According to the UN, work is underway to rescue civilians from besieged iron ore factories in Mariupol. Ukrainian President Zhelensky said about 100 civilians were on their way to Saboria.

According to Ukrainian sources, about 100 civilians have been released from the Mariupol steel industry, which is surrounded by Russian troops. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zhelensky wrote on Twitter that people were moving to Zaporizhia in Ukraine.

The Russian side confirmed that the public had left Mariupol and talked about 80 people. Officials in Mariupol now say the evacuation has been suspended. According to reports, the operation will continue tomorrow morning.

“The most complicated place”

The United Nations announced in the afternoon that an evacuation operation had been launched to protect the public from the steel industry. Saviano Abrew, a spokesman for the UN Emergency Relief Program, said the operation was being carried out in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and coordinated with Ukrainian and Russian authorities. Assistants would have reached the steel yesterday.

Abrew described the situation as very complicated and did not want to give any details about the surgery. About 1,000 Ukrainian civilians and 2,000 militants are suspected to be in the basement of the sprawling Azovstal steel plant. The site is the only location in the city that is not controlled by Russian forces.

The Ukrainian army announced several attacks

According to reports from Kyiv, several people were killed in the Ukrainian attack on the Russian military headquarters in Izyum. Among them were top officials, advisers to Ukrainian Interior Minister Anton Herashchenko, as reported in the Telegram. The city of Izum, with a population of 50,000, is located in eastern Ukraine. According to Ukrainian sources, Russian President Valery Gerasimo is also staying there to command the Donbass attack. The attack was reported to have taken place yesterday. No confirmation from Russia – not even for Gerasimov to stay in the area.

The Ukrainian side also claimed that the snake had struck the island in the Black Sea. The island had already been captured by Russian forces at the start of the war in February. It is located 35 kilometers off the coast of Ukraine. The Ukrainian military’s “southern” command said several air defenses and a communications unit had been destroyed in the attack. 42 Russian soldiers are said to have been killed. Russia has no commitment to this attack.

Conflicting parties as a source

Under the current circumstances, information on war, shelling and casualties provided by the official bodies of the Russian and Ukrainian conflict parties cannot be directly verified by an independent body.

New damage to Russian infrastructure

According to Russian officials, the fire broke out at a facility owned by the Russian Defense Ministry near the Ukrainian border. Regional Governor Vyasaslav Gladkov said on Twitter that one person was slightly injured in a fire in the Belgorod region.

It is not clear whether the collapse of part of the railway bridge near the Russian-Ukrainian border in the Kursk region was related to the war. Experts are currently determining the cause, Governor Roman Starowit wrote in a telegram. No one was injured. The western Russian district of Suja, on which the bridge connects the city of the same name with the war city of Sosnovi, lies on the border with the northeastern Ukrainian part of Sumi, from which the Russian Armed Forces retreated. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. Recently, Russia has repeatedly accused Ukraine of aggression. Russian authorities have raised the level of alert in the region due to the “danger of terrorism”.

Russia confirms attacks in the south and east

Russia has vowed to strike again in the east and south of neighboring Ukraine. In the Zaporizhia region, S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems were destroyed, Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said in Moscow. Two warplanes were shot down in the Kharkiv region. The Ukrainian side spoke of the many injuries resulting from the Russian attacks on Kharkiv. Konashenkov confirmed the attack on the airport in the Black Sea city of Odessa. The runway was destroyed by rockets and a hangar in which weapons supplied by the United States and Europe were stored.

Zelenskyj appeals to the Russian military

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zhelensky, Russia is strengthening its armed forces in the east of the country. “Russia is mobilizing additional forces for new attacks against our military in the east of the country,” Zhelensky said in his regular video address. Russia seeks to increase military pressure on Donbass He appealed to the Russian military: “Any Russian soldier can save his life. It is better for you to live in Russia than to die in our country.”

According to Ukrainian figures, 23,000 Russian soldiers have died in Ukraine since the beginning of the war. In addition, more than 1,000 Russian tanks and nearly 2,500 other military vehicles have already been destroyed, Zelenskyj said in his video address. The actual military casualties are difficult to estimate. Moscow has so far admitted more than 1,000 fallen soldiers, and for its part, the number of fallen Ukrainian fighters is more than 23,000.

According to the Union Agency, Ukrainian Presidential Adviser Oleksi Arrestovich said no troop movement from Russia to Ukraine had been observed for four days. On the other hand, “a large number of broken equipment, wounded and dead” will be brought back to Russia.

Seizure of company assets?

Russia says it is considering confiscating assets of companies in “enemy” countries. Parliamentary Speaker Vyasaslav Volodin wrote in a telegram that this was a possible reaction to the US announcement that it would transfer assets seized from Russian oligarchs to Ukraine. The money raised through the potential sale of assets should benefit Russia’s development.

It was about “companies based in Russian territory, whose owners are citizens of enemy countries”, in which it was decided to seize. Volodin accused a “certain number of adversaries – Lithuania, Poland and even the United States” of “pure theft.”
