Revealing the interior of the 2025 Audi Q6 E-Tron with a head-up display for passengers

Audi’s first electric car based on the PPE platform co-developed with Porsche with technology inside.

Audi unveiled the interior of the 2025 Q6 e-tron after previewing the model’s exterior in July during the prototype’s first drive event.

The Q6 e-tron is a very important electric vehicle for Audi for at least two reasons. First, its size is similar to the popular Q5, sitting between the Q4 e-tron and Q8 e-tron in the Audi EV lineup, a good prerequisite for success.

Secondly, it is the brand’s first model based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) platform jointly developed with Porsche and the new E3 electronics.

Seeing the first photos of the interior of the Q6 e-tron and getting to know the technology on board, we’re sure the cabin is the third reason why this model is a big problem for Audi.

Audi says the interior is designed more closely than ever to the user’s needs and has been reimagined with that in mind. The architectures of the PPE and E3 serve as the basis for rethinking the interior design and range of functions, while achieving the perfect balance between technology, aesthetics and sustainability in the Audi Q6 e-tron.

Starting with the design, the interior features high-contrast 3D design that deliberately places elements in the foreground or background, creating a three-dimensional spatial structure that integrates aesthetics and ergonomics.

The cabin is dominated by what Audi calls a “digital theatre”, which includes the independent Audi MMI panoramic display and the MMI display for the front passenger. The first features a curved design and OLED technology and consists of an 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit and a 14.5-inch MMI touchscreen.

The front passenger also gets a 10.9-inch display that fits snugly into the dashboard design. Thanks to the active privacy mode with shutter technology, the passenger can watch movies undisturbed without distracting the driver or can assist the driver, for example with navigation.

Audi also offers an optional augmented reality head-up display (HUD) for the Q6 e-tron, which projects a large inclined image plane across the driver’s windscreen, and displays relevant information such as speed, traffic lights, assistance and navigation icons.

The festival of technology continues with the interaction light (IAL), which envelops the interior and cockpit with a curved LED strip that performs three main functions: vehicle status, safety (visualizes dynamic turn signals), and charge status.

The new E3 electronics platform also enables the Q6 e-tron to offer a fully connected digital interior, with many functions intelligently linked. For example, users can control many of the car’s functions using the self-learning Audi voice assistant, which is represented for the first time by an avatar in the dashboard and the augmented reality head-up display.

Activated by the phrase “Hey Audi”, the digital assistant constantly learns from user behavior to offer them the best possible support, offering proactive suggestions, smart actions and smart menus.

Meanwhile, the electric SUV introduces a new infotainment platform based on Android Automotive and developed in collaboration with Volkswagen Group software company Cariad.

The practicality of the Q6 e-tron is also said to benefit from the PPE platform, as the electric SUV offers a spacious interior with many different storage spaces and trays.

For example, the center console features two cup holders, a cell phone charging tray, and two smartphone charging ports. The car also offers extra legroom due to the lack of a central tunnel, and the rear center seat is described as “very comfortable”.

The trunk provides 18.6 cubic feet of storage space, and when the rear seats are folded down it increases to 54 cubic feet. And speaking of the rear seats, they fold individually in a ratio of 40:20:40. The box adds 2.3 cubic feet of storage space, which is enough to store mobile phone charging cable and small suitcases.

Audi is known for the quality of its interiors and the Q6 e-tron should not be an exception. The automaker says the materials used were chosen with functionality and sustainability in mind, with recycled materials including Dinamica microfiber, Elastic Melange, and Econyl.

Depending on the equipment, the cabin also features classic luxury car materials such as fine Nappa leather with diamond stitching, birch wood trim, and brushed aluminum. Audi expects to fully reveal the Q6 E-Tron sometime in 2024 and go on sale later that year as a 2025 model.
