NYS Fair Gala canceled on Wednesday; A tribute to Fleetwood Mac was booked as a replacement

One of Wednesday’s free concerts at the New York State Fair was canceled, but one of the biggest bands of the ’70s and ’80s was honored as a replacement.

The Seven Wonders, a tribute to Rochester-based Fleetwood Mac, will perform on the Chevy Court Stage at the NYS Show on Wednesday, August 30, at 1 p.m. The concert is free with admission.

The Fleetwood Mac tribute show will replace R&B singer Danielle Ponder, a fellow Rochester musician, who had to cancel two weeks of shows “due to unforeseen circumstances,” fair officials said Monday.

“I’m not feeling well, and I usually just keep going, but my body is begging for a break,” Bonder wrote. Facebook.

The Magnificent Seven formed in 2017 with musicians Tegan Ward, Matthew Stephens, Katie Eberts, Jon Shafer, Matt Rammerman, Kyle Voke, and Taylor Lee Smith. The group is known for their high-energy performances and Fleetwood Mac hit songs like “Dreams”, “Go Your Own Way”, “Rhiannon” and “Landslide”.

This will be The Seven Wonders’ second show in Syracuse this month, after playing with Middle Ages Brewing Company last week. The concert was rescheduled from July after a car accident occurred on a New York State road. Eberts was injured but recovering, and Mel Muscarella replaced her in the meantime.

The Magnificent Seven will join the Women’s Day lineup on Wednesday, which also includes Chapel Hart at Chevy Court at 6 p.m. and Ann Wilson (From the Heart) at Suburban Park at 8 p.m.

The 2023 New York State Fair runs through September 4. All concerts are free with admission, which is $6 for adults and free for seniors 65 and older and children 12 and under.
