FSU QB Tate Rodemaker game day decision for ACC title game

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Florida State could be without another quarterback as it prepares to face Louisville on Saturday with the ACC championship and a potential berth in the College Football Playoff on the line.

Quarterback Tate Rodemaker, who started the team’s final regular-season game — a 24-15 win over Florida — will be a game-day decision, according to the school.

Rodemaker left the Florida game in the fourth quarter after suffering a late hit to the head following a scramble. He returned to the play two plays later to help set up the touchdown drive.

Rodemaker was not a full participant in practice this week, but an FSU spokesperson told ESPN that the team is continuing to “follow the process” with Rodemaker and will “see what that means for Saturday.”

Rodemaker took over the starting job after kicker Jordan Travis injured his left leg against the North Alabama Lions on November 18. Travis, a starter since the 2021 season, won ACC Player of the Week honors after helping the Seminoles earn a berth in the ACC Championship Game.

If Rodemaker can’t play, Florida State will select freshman Brock Glenn, who has only taken a handful of snaps this season. Glenn played late against North Alabama to get game reps, going 2-for-3 for 35 yards and adding a rushing touchdown. Glenn also came in for Rodemaker after he was hit against Florida last week, throwing an incomplete pass on his only pass.

Florida State is trying to win its first ACC Championship, and first appearance in the College Football Playoff, since 2014. The Seminoles have become a hot topic of discussion in the playoffs with Travis now out for the season, but they remain in fourth place in the latest. CFP rankings.
