Will Smith has been viral, but not in a good way.

The 54-year-old actor was planning to surprise the audience who had just watched his movie, Emancipation, but ended up testing positive for Covid, and participating. A video showing how he took a Covid test before it came out.

Will seemed to take the news well, writing a hilarious “It went viral” next to the video on social media.

Show participants are often required to test negative before they can attend the event.

The action star showed no signs of illness, but gave exaggerated cries of pain as the test swab swirled around his nasal passages, and was shocked when, one hour later, he got a positive result.

In Emancipation, Will takes on a difficult role as an enslaved man who escapes from slavery and must rely on his wits and faith as he is chased across the swamps of Louisiana by his slaves.

The film was inspired by photographs released in 1863 that showed the disfigured back of a black man who had been cruelly flogged by his slaves, and helped increase opposition to slavery during the American Civil War. The movie will hit theaters December 2 and will be shown on Apple TV+ starting December 9.
