Watch: Biden forgets to shake hands with the President of Brazil, in the latest embarrassing gaffe

President Biden made his latest embarrassing gaffe on Wednesday when he appeared to forget to shake hands with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, known as “Lula,” before leaving the stage after a corporate event.

This gaffe occurred after Biden’s speech on workers’ rights at the United Nations in New York City, when he shook hands with the Director-General of the International Labor Organization, Gilbert Houngbo, who was also on stage, and then stopped to wave and greet the workers. The audience before slowly turning and walking away.

Lula walked towards Biden as if to shake his hand, before realizing that the president was starting to walk in the other direction. Then he turned around, moved his arm toward his side of the stage, and walked away, looking annoyed.

The gaffe came on the same day that Biden was burned on social media because — according to a newspaper report — he told the same story at a fundraiser twice just minutes apart, which users noted was “almost word for word.”

“After briefly touting his economic record, the president contemplated his decision to run for president,” said the report by Politico’s Jonathan Lemire, who was traveling with the president on Wednesday. “He told the story of the events of Charlottesville in 2017 as a cause for his campaign. A few minutes later, he told the story again, almost word for word.”

Users promoted the report as evidence that the 80-year-old president’s age has become a factor in his presidency and re-election campaign. The charge he faced On both sides of the aisle since he took office.

An Associated Press-NORC poll last month found that 77% of Americans say Biden is too old for a second term. While 89% of Republicans express this sentiment, which is not surprising, 69% of Democrats also say Biden is no longer up to the task, according to the poll.
