A United Airlines flight from Los Angeles to New York City declared an emergency moments after departure.
Shortly after departing from Los Angeles (LAX), United Flight UA1076 hit 7700 and stayed about 10,000 feet.
According to data from RadarBoxa United Airlines Boeing 757 was heading to Newark Airport in New York (EWR) from Los Angeles (LAX).

Updates from the United Airlines flight to New York from Los Angeles…
The aircraft in question is registered as N57111 and is a Boeing 757-200, and at the time of writing is approximately 29 years old.
UA1076 is currently heading towards the Newport Beach area.
A Boeing 757 from United Airlines now appears to be squatting down the coast of Long Beach.
Update #1 @ 2050 UK time – Airplane is currently held south of Long Beach at this time. It is unclear what the nature of the emergency is and why it does not continue to New York.
Update #2 @ 2100 UK time – United Airlines flight UA1076, originally bound for NY Newark, is still sticking south of its point of departure.
Update #3 @ 2102 UK time – At this time, reports are coming in that the cause of the emergency is due to unknown hydraulic issues according to the LAFD.
UPDATE #4 @ 2106 UK time – Looks like UA1076 has come out of hold, and is currently going down. Expecting a return to Los Angeles.
Update #5 @ 2110 UK time – Looks like UA1076 is heading into another vector hold. It is not known when the reservation will stop and when the plane will continue on its course. Currently at 7,900 according to RadarBoxCom.
Update #6 @ 2123 UK time – UA1076 has now exited suspension and is en route to Los Angeles International Airport. Prepare for updates.
Update #7 @ 2125 UK time – descending through 6,000 feet currently over the Seal Beach area, according to RadarBoxCom.
Update #8 @ 2126 UK time – The plane is now at base at LAX.
Update #9 @ 2127 UK time – ATC said they expect the airport south complex to be closed due to this emergency!
Update #10 @ 2129 UK time – UA1076, originally bound for New York, is now on its terminus at its point of origin at LAX. Normal landing speed for a Runway is 25 liters. Emergency services are on standby.
Update #11 @ 2133 UK time – TOUCHDOWN! According to data from RadarBoxCom, United Airlines Flight UA1076 appears to have returned safely to LAX. Updates to follow shortly.
Update #12 @ 2135 UK time – UA1076 has stopped on the south runway at LAX. Not sure when or if the plane will be able to taxi on its own.
Update #13 @ 2136 UK time – Flight tracking shows multiple vehicles surrounding the aircraft at the moment.
UPDATE #14 @ 2140 UK time – LA FLIGHTS on YouTube has a clear view of the emergency happening on the south side of the airport. The landing gear appears to have been manually retracted.
UPDATE #15 @ 2142 UK time – Understand that the aircraft landing gear doors were never closed after departure.
Update #16 @ 2145 UK time – Airplane waiting to be towed. It will then be removed from the runway before operations can begin again on the 25L.
Update #17 @ 2147 UK time – An aircraft tow truck has approached the aircraft and is preparing to remove a United Boeing 757 from the runway.
