DUkrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was involved in a car accident, according to his spokesman in Kyiv. Spokesman Serhiy Nykyforov wrote on Facebook early Thursday that the vehicle crashed into the head of state’s car and escort vehicles.
Selenskyj was examined by a doctor. “No serious injuries were found.” No further details about his condition were initially released.
Zelenskyj’s car collided with a private vehicle, the spokesman said. He did not say when the accident happened. Paramedics accompanying Zelenskyy administered first aid to the driver of the other vehicle and called an ambulance. An investigation into the accident is underway.
Minutes after the report was released, Zelensky’s office released the president’s evening speech.
On Wednesday, Selenskyj visited the town of Izyum in eastern Ukraine, which was recaptured a few days ago.
