In a roundup of the drama and events of this year, Tik Toker and podcaster Alix Earle gave her listeners and followers insight into her recent breakup with MLB player Tyler Wade.
On the “Tea of 2023” episode of her podcast, “Hot Mess with Alix Earle,” she talked about her relationship with the former Oakland A's star — who recently signed with the San Diego Padres in the offseason.
Earle previously said she broke up with Wade because he didn't post about her on his social media accounts. But in the episode, she said her breakup with Wade — whom she calls the “baseball boy” on her show — was due to toxicity in their relationship.
She also praised her current boyfriend, Miami Dolphins receiver Braxton Berrios (whom she calls “NFL Man”) for allowing her to be more independent.
Reflecting on her dating Wade, Earl said: “It was a very toxic relationship and that's why I got to a point of 'Oh, he didn't text me, we broke up.' This was just one of the things we were fighting about.

We had only been dating for three months, so it wasn't too serious. All I did was s**t. He didn't support me at all, especially when it came to social media.
“So the fact that NFL Man now supports me and allows me to edit a video on my phone without yelling at me is pretty sweet.”
“So when I started dating the baseball guy, I had just graduated my freshman year of college. I was blown away by this MLB player, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, that’s so cool.’ We started hanging out and talking.
“And keep in mind that this was during my acne era… so the fact that someone had a crush on me, not to mention that I thought he was really hot in my eyes… all the red flags went right out the window.”
She continued: “He was really nice at first. We started dating, and at the same time, I started gaining a following on social media – and for some reason that escalated it. Like that wasn't good for him.”
“He would be so toxic that I would come over to hang out with him and he would be like 'Oh, we're not going to talk tonight, we're not talking, I talked too much today'… We would literally sit there in silence… I would hold my phone up to take a picture, and he would yell at me.
I'm someone who doesn't support that, which is why we only dated for three months.
He “liked” every bikini photo, or model's lingerie photo on Instagram… He didn't care, he told me it made him feel better.

Earl added that during their relationship, Wade would never come over and hang out with my friends at her house in college.
“It was very toxic and not good, and that's OK,” she added. We love some toxic relationships, but they weren't lasting for me.
When it comes to the situation of Wade not posting about her on his social media, Earle said the issue isn't really about the lack of posts (especially since the relationship was so new).
Instead, “he would lie right to my face about his reasoning and that's what bothered me… he would say 'people my age.' [28] Don't post on Instagram, you're young [21]So don't get it.”
This was just one of the many reasons she decided to end things with Wade – a topic she chose to avoid for a while.
“I would go online, talk badly, and I felt so guilty and bad about it. But now that I haven't talked about it for a year, I realize that there are a lot of bad, terrible things that happened in that relationship that… 1703796292 I felt comfortable talking about it.
