The defense minister wants to take Putin’s threats seriously

Vladimir Putin repeatedly threatens the Baltics, Georgia and the Republic of Moldova. Defense Minister Pistorius has called for the threats to be taken seriously.

Since launching a war of aggression against Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin has threatened many countries. Georgia, the Republic of Moldova – and the Baltic countries of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Federal Defense Minister Boris Pistorius (SPD) now argues in an interview with “Welt” that these threats against other countries should be taken seriously. “It’s not a sword cut,” he explained in an interview with the newspaper.

Europe must prepare for a possible threat from Russia. This is especially true as the US may shift its commitment from Europe to the Pacific, the minister said. “We Europeans must step up our commitment to ensuring security on our continent,” Pistorius said.

Pistorius: We like five to eight years

To prepare for a possible Russian attack, the European defense sector must significantly increase its productivity in the coming years: “For about five to eight years now, in the armed forces, in the military, in industry and in society,” the defense minister continued.

Pistorius is also very clear that Germany should be part of nuclear sharing within NATO. That is why they have decided to order the Lightning II variant of the F-35 fighter jets from the US. The F-35 jets are capable of carrying US nuclear weapons and deploying them in an emergency. To this day America’s nuclear weapons are stationed in Germany.
