Comedian and Golden Globes host Joe Koy appeared to strike the wrong chord with Taylor Swift, after he made a joke about her attending NFL games to watch her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.
The 34-year-old pop star attended the awards ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 7, where her film “Taylor Swift: Tour of the Ages” was among the nominated works.
Wearing a shimmering green dress, Swift posed for photos on the red carpet before taking her seat inside the International Ballroom at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Coy, who already appeared tense during his stint as host, attempted to lighten the mood by referencing Swift's highly publicized performances in support of Kelsey.
“The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? “At the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift…there's more to talk about here.”
When the camera panned to a close-up of Swift, she could be seen pursing her lips before taking a sip of her drink, an icy expression on her face.

Her reaction did not go unnoticed by viewers, who took to social media to discuss the awkward moment.
“Taylor Swift is not enjoying Jo Koi, she's actually just like the rest of us!” one fan joked, referring to Coy's rocky start at the Golden Globes.
TV presenter Piers Morgan said in a tweet: “If Taylor Swift's death glares could actually kill, Joe Coy would be dead by now.”

“OMG, Taylor Swift's dead-on look before sipping champagne at the #GoldenGlobes perfectly captures Joe Koy's annoying hosting job,” one viewer said.
Another viewer pointed out Will Smith's infamous slap at the 2022 Oscars, writing: “The only funny thing Jo Koy has done so far is mention Taylor Swift by name because it leads to this cutaway shot where she sternly says 'keep my name out of your mouth.' “.
Coy, whose real name is Joseph Glenn Herbert Sr., was asked to host the Globe Awards just two weeks before the event.
“When they asked me, it was immediately yes. I couldn't believe this was happening – and then I woke up and said: 'Wait a minute, I have two weeks to write jokes!' diverse.
“Actually, I think I had less than two weeks because I didn't get my book until five days later.”

Coy called it a “crash course in hosting,” as his preparation time was significantly short compared to previous hosts, such as Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Ricky Gervais.
Before his quick joke, Cowie took some swipes at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, even as he washed his hands of writing it himself.
“Harry and Meghan Markle have been paid millions of dollars for doing absolutely nothing – and that's just through Netflix,” he told the audience, which laughed in response.
The camera focused on the streaming service's CEO, Ted Sarandos, after he cracked the joke.

Price Harry and his wife, Meghan, did not attend the ceremony.
Joy was addressing the Netflix documentary, Harry and Meghanwhere the couple spoke about their relationship, their turbulent relationship with The Firm, and their decision to step down as senior royals.
The series was released in December 2022 to mixed reviews.
