The Seminoles will be without two key players on the offensive line, as left tackle Robert Scott Jr. and center Maurice Smith are both expected to miss a second straight game.
Safety Akeem Dent was also out after being injured against Southern Miss last week. He has started 32 career games for the Seminoles.
Florida State enters as the favorite but will also battle the elements. Heavy winds and rain are expected in Chestnut Hill as a result of Hurricane Lee’s journey through the area. This could lead to a radical change in the game plan of the Seminoles, who are ranked fourth in scoring in the country.
Florida State entered the season with more than 200 career starts among its offensive linemen, giving the Seminoles one of the deepest and most experienced units in the country. This will be tested again on Saturday.
Scott was injured against LSU in the opener and was replaced by Bless Harris, who will make his third start for the Seminoles. Darius Washington is expected to start again with Smith at center, and he is experienced enough that he is in his fifth season starting on an NFL offensive line. This will mark his third career start at the position.
A win for Florida State on Saturday will set up a pivotal showdown at Clemson next weekend. Florida State has not beaten Clemson in its past seven attempts.
