Raspberry launched its latest raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ on March 14, 2018 i.e. Pi Day for math lovers in the World. To mark this occasion Raspberry Pi Foundation launched the new version small in size and affordable for DIY enthusiasts. It offers faster CPU and fast wireless than its old model Raspberry Pi 3 Model B.

Raspberry Pi Model B+ is launched after 2 years of the launch of Raspberry Pi 3 Model B.  It is same as Raspberry Pi 2 Model B and Raspberry Pi 3 Model B.  The size is about a deck of cards, which is featured with 64-bit-quad core processor clocked at 1.4GHz. It has 5GHz 802.11ac Wi-Fi connectivity,4.2/BLE Bluetooth and Gigabit Ethernet with a maximum transfer speed of 300 Mbps, which is three times higher than Model B.

The model has one HDMI port with a full size for display output and four USB 2.0 ports. It also got a microSD port for data storing and the support for Power over Ethernet or PoE along with a  PoE HAT add-on. The model also has CSI and DSI port to connect to the camera and touchscreen displays.

The model’s high clock speed improved the power integrity and thermal design. Raspberry Pi Foundation said that the wireless LAN with dual-band comes with a modular compliance certificate, which makes the launch of Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ in easier and cheaper way.

TechRepublic’s Nick Heath got his hand on Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ and found out that this model of Raspberry is the fastest among all the Raspberry model available now. He added that on the addition of 802.11ac Wi-Fi, it gives the model triple throughout.
