Paramount and Skydance are close to a merger agreement

Paramount Global and Skydance Media are making progress on a deal that would merge the media companies and buy out controlling shareholder Shari Redstone's stake.

A special committee of Paramount Global and David Ellison's Skydance Media, with support from private equity firms KKR and RedBird Capital Partners, is narrowing the scope of how Skydance's assets will be valued as part of the merger, as well as how much equity should be added to the company as part of the merger. The recapitalization, according to people familiar with the matter.
