Pokemon Go players shocked after fan’s daughter used Master Ball on ‘weak silly Mon’

A child Pokemon Go player has burned a precious ball onto a normal, weak Pokemon, shocking fans around the world.

While most mainline Pokemon games give the player a reliable way to obtain a single Master Ball, Pokemon Go fans can obtain multiple copies. This is because it is a live service game and is expected to continue for years to come.

Master Balls are extremely valuable, because they 100% guarantee that a Pokemon will be caught in the wild. Unfortunately, Niantic is aware of this, which leads to the Master Ball being associated with expensive or difficult events.

As such, players tend to save their rare and valuable Key Balls for Shiny or Legendary Pokemon, which have a reputation for quick escapes, such as Galarain Legendary Birds.

The daughter of a Pokemon Go player used Grubbin’s Master Ball

One unfortunate player posted a post on Pokemon Go Reddit page, chronicling the loss of the precious Master Ball. In this case, their daughter used it to catch Grubbin, a common encounter in the outside world that people see every day.

“You all need to train your kids better. My five-year-old knows when to use the purple ball she has to get out,” one user wrote, while another said: “I heard the orphanage is nice this time of year.”

It’s not always a good idea to catch a normal Pokemon in the Master Ball, as the shiny type can have value. Shiny Pokemon are very rare, so if you like a Pokemon, burning a Master Ball to get it is guaranteed.

Unfortunately, the Grubbin that was captured was not a Shiny, a Shadow, a hundo, or even an event variant. It’s just a regular grubbin, the kind people pass by on the street every day and might not even bother to catch.

At least this Grubbin has a funny story attached to it, and you can always swap into existing games via Pokemon Home and go on an adventure. It may not be special for traditional reasons, but it can still become beloved as part of someone’s Pokemon journey.
