It is clear that all advertisements are evil. But sometimes, though, it can be very entertaining. The latest 3D billboard outside Shinjuku Station in Tokyo is probably the best use of this optical illusion technology I’ve seen, and it’s a cross-promotion Pokemon GO And, eh, World Cat Day.

His cunning use of a two-story curved screen reaching into the corner of the building creates impressively effective anamorphic optical illusions. In this case, as I spotted it Nintendo LivePoor Pikachu seems to have been crushed, then chased off the screen with a series of Pokemon the cats. Here, you can watch the full episode:
So you have Meowth, Alolan Meowth, Galarian Meowth, Skitty, Purrloin, Litten, Espurr, Glameow, and, um, Vanillite? Apparently someone wanted to do something completely frozen and then realized that there was no such thing as Ice Cats!
The effects are just amazing. Bucky balls cascading to fill the space, then seem to leak out from the front, people below must be raising their arms to protect their heads. But ol’ Glameow’s spooky moment is by far the most effective, as it seems to float completely off screen.
Much about it is the fake frame of the bulletin board, especially the one with simulated parts of the scaffolding at the bottom, which allow the characters to appear to extend beyond the confines of the screen. I can watch it all day.
This, apparently, is just the first of a series of Pokemon Ads that will appear on the bulletin board between now and September 5 This is the first ad inspired by World Cat Day. no seriously, It’s something. Presumably it was organized by cats.
Seems to be worth paying attention to Pokemon GO japanese youtube channel Throughout the month, they upload videos about the billboard there.
