Google announced the official release of its latest Android 8.0 Oreo update back in August. This Android update was first available to Nexus and Pixel users and finally is available for OnePlus owners. This new update by Google holds features like enhanced battery management, renewed notification style, picture-in-picture support feature and other substantial modifications. Now, all this is available for the OnePlus phone which includes models like the latest OnePlus 5T.

Google, during its last announcement, confirmed that the updates are being looked upon by various noted smartphone manufacturing companies. At that time, OnePlus wasn’t anywhere on the list, but they were busy working on it. Now, the very first OnePlus Android 8.0 beta has been successfully developed and is available for phones like OnePlus 3 as well as OnePlus 3T. The upcoming months are dedicated to providing free updates on Android 8.0 Oreo for major smartphones from all across the globe. Android 8.0 has been made available for manufacturers to test it on their devices at prep them accordingly.

OnePlus Android 8.0 Oreo Update

The first half of the year 2017, marked the conjunction of two different teams working on the Android updates in China and the rest of the world. To provide the updates of the latest software at an increased speed, the company chose to work jointly with its two teams. This was fruitful as the Android 7.0 Nougat update was introduced very quickly. The company has already released OP3 Oreo beta and has planned to release the OP 5 beta sometime before the end of this month.

It has been speculated that the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T shall get their official Android 8.0 Oreo updates between the upcoming months of January and February 2018. On November 18th OnePlus successfully released the first ever Oreo update for its OnePlus 3 and 3T devices. For devices that are less than a year-old shall only get support for a year and no more. It was expected by the users that OP3 and 3T should get the Android P update in the year 2018, but the same isn’t going to happen.

New Features in Android 8.0 Oreo

Android 8.0 Oreo has many new built-in features that include bundled notifications that can be managed easily, new picture-in-picture mode for video, etc. The picture-in-picture mode lets you watch any video or even video chat while you do other things on the phone all at the same time. The update also brings in changes into the icons along with easy selection tools for text and auto-fill in apps such as Google Chrome. This new update also helps your battery last longer through various significant changes and enables faster performance. OnePlus provides the users with a stock Android experience that comes without skin and helps smooth running of the features unlike Samsung or LG devices.

You can also expect the Oxygen OS update to install a few new improvements along with bug fixes and a new set of features that are specific to the OnePlus devices. The launcher has notification dots, quick, accessible settings menu and also provides direct access to “shot on OnePlus” which is a photo program.
