Kelsey Grammer’s interview was cut short after she expressed her support for Donald Trump

A BBC radio presenter claimed that his interview with Freezer Star Kelsey Grammer was cut short by Paramount+ representatives due to the actor’s expression of support for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

The clip that was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 today program Monday saw Grammer reveal that the idea for the revival came after witnessing the success of 2018 Roseanne Reboot. (The series, which was canceled after star and co-star Roseanne Barr posted a racist tweet, was later brought back as Conners Without the actress.)

At the end of the interview, host Justin Webb asked Grammer: “You mentioned Roseanne early on, who had a great comeback but was also a Trump supporter. I was, at least, a Trump supporter. I’m intrigued to know if you still are? ”

“I am, and I’ll let that be the end of it,” Grammer replied.

This was not actually the case. Speaking to his host, Webb revealed that Grammer was willing to discuss politics, but his co-stars weren’t so keen. “I have to say, actually, Kelsey Grammer himself was quite happy to keep talking about this,” he said. “The PR people at Paramount+ are less than happy that he talked about it at length.”

When his laughing host noted that the network would be “thrilled you mentioned it on the air,” Webb didn’t seem too concerned.

“They decided we had plenty of time to do our interview,” he said. “But I must stress that he was perfectly happy to talk about why he supported Donald Trump and continues to support him in the upcoming election.”

Representatives for Paramount+ and Grammer did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment.

Grammer, who voted for Trump in the 2016 and 2020 elections, has spoken publicly about his association with the former president in the past. He previously described Trump as “a bit naughty,” but noted that “in terms of politics, I don’t have a lot of problems with what… [he] He does” in a 2019 interview with BBC Radio 4, per Irish Independent.

“We have seen in American politics the same basic language since Ronald Reagan was associated with every conservative president,” he said at the time. “But this is the first guy to ever respond, so it’s really unpleasant, and they thought, of course, that he shouldn’t have been elected anyway.”
