Israeli occupation forces opened fire on those in Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza, according to Doctors Without Borders

Doctors Without Borders announced today, Saturday, that those fleeing from Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City were shot by Israeli forces surrounding them.

The hospital is located near the city center, which is said to be besieged by the Israeli army as it continues its ground invasion of the Gaza Strip.

“At the time of writing, our staff were witnessing people being shot as they attempted to escape from Al-Shifa Hospital.” The organization said Saturday morning. “MSF urgently reiterates its calls for an end to attacks on hospitals, an immediate ceasefire, and the protection of medical facilities, medical staff and patients.”

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is another name for Doctors Without Borders.

Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest in Gaza, was attacked for at least a day and contains hundreds of patients, MSF claimed, citing its medical staff inside the facility.

The organization said: “Over the past 24 hours, hospitals in Gaza have been subjected to continuous bombing.” “The Al-Shifa Hospital complex, the largest health facility where MSF staff are still working, was bombed several times, including the maternity wards and outpatient clinics, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries.”

The organization also said that it had lost contact with a surgeon at Al-Quds Hospital, and that the Rantisi Children’s Hospital was “surrounded by Israeli tanks.”

Israeli army to reject It claims Al-Shifa Hospital was under “siege” early Saturday, claiming its army was fighting Hamas militants nearby. The Israeli military said it allows people to leave the hospital safely if they wish, a claim denied by MSF.

“Despite regular attacks and shortages, the staff has managed to keep the hospital running,” MSF said. “Yesterday, electricity was cut off at Al-Shifa Hospital. Ambulances are no longer able to move to collect the wounded, and the continuous bombing prevents patients and staff from being evacuated.”

in Channel 4 interview on FridayMSF surgeon Dr. Mohammed Obaid confirmed that staff cannot leave the hospital because many patients need surgery and cannot walk.

“We can’t leave because [Thursday] “So far, we have performed surgeries on about 25 patients,” he said. “If I or the other surgeon aren’t here, who will take care of the patients?”

The war between Israel and Hamas led to the deaths of more than 11,000 Palestinians, including more than 4,000 children, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, which is controlled by Hamas.

The fighting began early last month after Hamas militants launched a surprise attack on Israeli border communities, killing about 1,200 people.
