Instagram just made its ‘Direct Reply’ a bit more fun, as the app now gives its users the ability to reply to messages with photos and videos instead of just plain texts. For instance, users can now take a selfie or add a video as a reply in Direct Messages.

“Now you can reply with a photo or video to specific photos, videos, and reshared posts in Direct. Your reply will automatically include a sticker of what you’re replying to. Just hit “reply” to open the camera, take a selfie, and send,” explains Instagram in a blog.

To do so, users simply need to tap the reply button on a photo or video, which will automatically be converted into a sticker. In addition, the update also gives users the option to send a split-screen reply by tapping on the sticker.

“Now you also have the option to send a split-screen reply by tapping on the sticker. Add your own perspective by drawing on the sticker, whether you’re painting a mustache on your friend’s selfie or doodling on a beach photo,” further adds Instagram in an official blog post.

Its also worth noting that this new feature isn’t restricted to just direct messages. As users can send a text reply by tapping on the text bar at the bottom of the screen, or they can either can send a photo/video reply by tapping on the camera icon at the bottom left of the screen when watching a story. The aforementioned update arrives as Instagram version 10.34 an is available for both iOS and Android platforms.
