Eagles' Jason Kelce holds press conference to talk about future – NBC Sports Philadelphia

Eagles legend Jason Kelce has reached a decision on his future and will announce it this afternoon.

Kelce, 36, will hold a news conference at the Eagles' NovaCare Complex at 1pm on Monday to discuss his future. The press conference will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Philadelphia.

After all of the past several seasons, the Eagles' longtime center has been contemplating retirement. This may be the time when he actually steps away from the NFL. Reports emerged immediately after the Eagles' playoff season ended that Kelce intended to retire but there has been no official announcement yet.

Even though Kelce turns 36 during the 2023 season, he is still playing at a very high level and has been named an All-Pro and Pro Bowler. If he's not still the best center in the NFL, he's very close.

During his 13-year NFL career, Kelce was a first-team All-Pro six times and a Pro Bowler seven times. He has been named to the All-Pro or Pro Bowl team in each of his last eight seasons.

He has had a Hall of Fame career.

If Kelce decides to retire, the Eagles may have drafted his replacement in last year's second round in Cam Jurgens from Nebraska. The Eagles selected Jurgens with the 51st pick in 2022. Jurgens played sparingly in his rookie season but was the Eagles' starting right guard in 2023. Kelce actually helped scout Jurgens and was on board with the selection. He seems to relish having the opportunity to help find his eventual replacement.

The Eagles will return the starting left side of the offensive line in Jordan Mailata and Landon Dickerson, while Lane Johnson will return at right tackle in 2024 as well. There is a possibility that Tyler Steen, a 2023 third-round pick, could be the starting right guard if Jurgens moves to center.

But if Kelce retires on Monday, the Eagles will have a few months to figure it all out. Today could just be a chance for the city to thank the legend.
