Tuesday’s results show saw host Carson Daly bring the top 9 singers back to the stage to announce the top four singers with the most votes – regardless of their team affiliation. The remaining singers performed one final song in an attempt to win over America Instant save Vote to keep them in the competition.

ET spoke with the Season 25 coaches Ahead of the first live show of the season, who admitted they were a little relieved to not have to go through the “stressful” decision of sending team members home.

“We feel really strong about our team, but seeing people go home is heartbreaking. Honestly, it’s something we weren’t prepared for when we signed up for this show,” Dan admitted. “At least we don’t have to make decisions anymore, we don’t have to be the bad guys.”

Chance agreed, saying, “I love life… It’s bittersweet, it’s getting close to the end, but it’s also when you get the most realistic performances and you really see how the artists have evolved over the entire season.”
