Brits fly to Poland to shop and save money

Food prices in Great Britain have risen significantly. Two Brits have now shown how they can save money on flights and overnight stays while shopping in Poland.

Hop on a plane to go shopping, shop at Lidl, stay overnight, fly back – and spend less money than the supermarket around the corner? It may sound unbelievable, but two men living in England managed to do their weekly shop cheaply. Two YouTubers Josh Peters and Archie Manners traveled to Poland to shop for groceries at a Lidl branch.

In total, the purchases are almost 70 pounds (about 80 euros) cheaper than buying all the products in a Lidl in their home country. Two 30-year-olds bought 135 items officially used to calculate the rate of food inflation in Great Britain. This includes bread, peanut butter or chicken nuggets.

“How ridiculous things have become”

The full purchase price in Great Britain is equivalent to approximately 189 euros, while in the Polish city of Poznan it costs only 112 euros. Including flights and overnight stays, they both saved 12 euros more than shopping in their home country.

“We certainly haven’t solved the cost of living crisis, but we thought it was a good way to show in an entertaining way how ridiculous things have become,” Peters told British tabloid The Sun.
