Attack on China’s Special Envoy in Kiev

DUkraine’s capital Kiev and other parts of the country came under renewed airstrikes on Thursday morning. The Council of Europe is to document the damage caused by the nearly 15-month-long war of aggression, holding Russia accountable. Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, has agreed to join 40 of the 46 member states of the bloc, independent of the European Union, on the damage register or to do so in the future. Turkey, Hungary, Azerbaijan and Serbia do not want to participate for now. The registration is seen as the first step towards possible reparations to Ukraine.

Among other things, Zelenskyj’s peace formula includes a demand for the complete withdrawal of all Russian troops from the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea and other occupied parts of Ukraine. It also plans demands for reparations from Russia and an international tribunal to try politicians and the military responsible for the war.
