Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that Alan Wake 2 will be getting a performance mode on PS5 and Xbox Series
This news comes via Remedy’s Director of Communications, Thomas Buha, who announced in a mail On X, formerly known as Twitter, the developer will add a performance mode to the game after programming it to run at 30 frames per second to start with. He said this was done to focus on the graphics and horrific game environment.
“I’m happy to say that Alan Wake 2 will have a performance mode on PS5 and Xbox Series “The game was designed from the beginning as a 30fps experience focused on visuals and atmosphere, but somehow we managed to include a powerful performance mode. More details later.”
Fans on X pointed out that Puha specified that Performance Mode will be coming to the Xbox Series
in to reply To Puha’s post, a fan asked: “When you say performance, do you mean unlocking at a target of 60fps or a true lock at 60fps most of the time?” Puha replied that the treatment “is still adjusting that.”
In follow up mail, Puha discussed the challenges Remedy faces in performing with the Saga side of the game (Saga Anderson is one of the two playable heroes in Alan Wake 2). “…the Pacific Northwest has a lot of foliage, trees (transparent stuff), and expensive lighting (which looks amazing) among many other features that make it really hard on the frame rate,” Buha explained.
Alan Wake 2 creative director Sam Lake recently stated on IGN First that the game will connect Bright Falls, Control, and Max Payne in a connected universe. This is because Control and Alan Wake 2 are Remedy Connected Universe titles, and the events of both games overlap with each other.
Alan Wake 2 will be released on October 27.
