A woman goes into labor at Pink’s party, and gives her baby the perfect name

“Raise your glasses” for a New York woman who went into labor at Pink’s party!

On July 31, Angela Mercer, who was 31 weeks pregnant, was settling into her seat in Boston’s Fenway Park, when she received a call from her OB-GYN. Mercer, a 32-year-old social worker, left an after-hours message explaining that she was having contractions. By the time I got to the stadium, the pain was unbearable.

“My doctor was like, ‘This is over Braxton hliceYou should go to the hospital.” TODAY.com.

With the help of her mother and stepmother, Mercer went out into the street to find a taxi, but none were available.

“We tried Uber and Lyft and everything. This went on for about 25 minutes,” Mercer says. “Eventually, I was like, ‘Okay. We just have to walk.’ Then my mom stopped one of them in scrubs and they said, ‘You need to call an ambulance.'” So that’s what we did. I felt silly because it was only 3/4 of a mile.”

Later that day, Mercer delivered her son, Aisin Hart, via Cesarean section, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He weighed 4 pounds 7 ounces and was given what Mercer calls a “shell”; And luckily, Pink is married to Carey Hart.

Mercer says she and her husband, Ace, chose the middle name Hart months earlier.

“Isn’t it amazing how that happened?” Says. “People were suggesting names like Boston and Fenway, and it just so happened that we already had a related name.”

Although Mercer did not hear Pink perform live, she was able to view excerpts from the concert on her phone.

“Some of the nurses happened to be at the concert that night, and when they heard my story, they sent clips to show us,” Mercer says. “All of the staff was great.”

Mercer’s husband missed Aisin’s birth—he was at home in Albany, New York, with their 3-year-old son, Hollis, and couldn’t make it to Massachusetts in time.

“He was getting ice cream when he got the phone call that the baby was coming!” Mercer says with a laugh.

While Pink wasn’t present for the birth either, she did take a moment from the US leg of her 2023 Summer Carnival Tour to Tweet her congratulations to Mercer.

Ace is still in the neonatal intensive care unit, according to Mercer. But he is “doing a great job” and hopes to be released in two weeks. And hopefully on Pink’s next tour, he’ll let his mom enjoy the concert.
