War in Ukraine: Ukraine and Russia announce drone strikes

Russia and Ukraine report mutual drone strikes. A hotel was struck in Mykolaiv, southern Ukraine, and a drone was intercepted near a fuel depot in Kaluga, Russia. There were no injuries.

Russia and Ukraine attacked each other with drones last night. A hotel and an energy distribution facility were affected in the southern Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv, according to Governor Vitaly Kim. There were no casualties and the fire at the hotel as a result of the attack was quickly extinguished, Kim said in a telegram.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia sent four Iranian-built “Shahed-131/136” combat drones and five drones of unknown design. Four Shahed drones and another unmanned aerial vehicle were shot down, according to unverified military reports.

The airstrikes were fewer than the night before, when the Russian military used a combination of dozens of rockets, cruise missiles and combat drones.

Moscow: Died after attack in Zaporizhia

According to officials, two people were killed in Ukrainian shelling in the partially Russian-occupied Zaporozhye region. As Yevgeny Politsky, the Russian state-appointed governor of the occupied territory, wrote in a telegram, two more people – a mother and her child – were wounded in the attack in the town of Pologi. One house collapsed and five other houses were damaged.

The Russian Defense Ministry in Moscow previously announced drone strikes on targets in Russia. A total of 17 Ukrainian drones were shot down. Three of them were destroyed in the Kaluga region south of Moscow, and the remaining 14 drones were destroyed in the border regions of Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod, the ministry said in a telegram. These numbers cannot be independently verified.

Vladislav Shabsha, governor of the Kaluga region, said three drones were intercepted near a fuel depot. There was no injury or damage.

Conflicting parties as a resource

In the current situation, information on the course of the war, shelling and casualties provided by the official organizations of the Russian and Ukrainian parties to the conflict cannot be directly verified by an independent organization.
