Ukraine War: Putin Evacuates Russian City Fearing Attack | Politics

Now the Russians must leave their cities – in Russia!

Vladimir Putin (71) has evacuated parts of the border city of Belgorod (population 350,000). It was the largest exodus from a Russian city since the Russian offensive in Ukraine began nearly two years ago.

The reason: fear of reprisals from the Ukrainian military, which is defending itself against Russian invaders. Ukraine repeatedly invades territories Russia On – a reaction to the Russian bombing of Ukrainian cities.

Especially in our view: Belgorod. It is located 32 kilometers from the Ukrainian-Russian border, close to the constantly contested region of Kharkiv.

Most recently, 25 people died in Ukrainian attacks on Belgorod in late December. Orthodox Christmas (scheduled for January 7) was canceled and school holidays were extended.

But residents are putting pressure on the regional government!

In the last 24 hours, 1,300 requests to evacuate children from Belgorod have been received. Belgorod region governor Vyacheslav Kladkov (54) said: “They were sent to school camps outside the city in other regions.”

Only 300 residents have been evacuated so far. According to Kladko, they were initially accommodated in emergency camps in Stary Oskol, Gupkin and Korodchansky districts, which are further from the border.

The governor ordered Belgorod residents to evacuate on Friday.

In May, anti-Putin forces attacked the city. Two Russian associations claimed responsibility for the attack: the “Legion of Free Russia” and the “Russian Volunteer Army”. “Legion” issued a statement urging Belgorod residents not to resist and not to be afraid: “We are not your enemies. Unlike Putin's zombies, we do not touch civilians or use them for our own purposes. Freedom is near!”
