09:57 – British ministry: Russia has lost 90 planes so far

Britain reckons the Russian Air Force has lost 90 aircraft so far in its war of aggression against Ukraine. “Some of their fighter jets are flying more aggressively than in peacetime,” the British Ministry of Defense said in its daily update.

All aircraft have a life expectancy in flight time. The British believed that Russia would use up these flying times faster than planned air and space forces because of the war. In addition, Brits wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that maintenance work will be more difficult due to high demand and lack of spare parts due to restrictions.

Ukraine’s military said it shot down more than 30 Russian drones Thursday night. Russia has particularly hit the south of the country with “massive” attacks, military spokeswoman Natalia Kumenyuk wrote in Telegram. Air defense destroyed a number of drones in Odesa and Mykolaiv regions. In addition, Russia attacked targets in the heart of the country with drones.

“The consequences of the attack are now being clarified, because it was indeed a massive attack,” Kumenyuk said. “But the air defense was very effective.” Russian attacks on Ukrainian grain export infrastructure in the Odesa and Mykolayiv regions have increased since Russia canceled the grain deal in late July.

12:44 am – Lavrov: Moscow ready for talks on Ukraine

According to Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Russia is ready to conclude agreements on Ukraine under certain conditions. “Our position remains the same: taking into account the current situation, we are ready to reach agreements,” state news agency Dos Lavrov quoted him as saying. Likewise, Russia’s security interests must be taken into account, including “preventing the creation of a hostile Nazi regime near Russia’s borders.”

According to Doss, Lavrov has already said that the longer Kiev delays negotiations with Moscow, the more difficult the deal will become. Before any possible negotiations, Moscow insists, among other things, that Ukraine relinquish its territories occupied by Russian troops. Ukraine firmly rejects this. On Tuesday, former Ukrainian boxing world champion Wladimir Klitschko said he currently sees no possibility of peace talks with Russia. “Negotiate with whom, Russia, (Russian President Vladimir) Putin, Lavrov, with whom?”, 47-year-old Markus answered a question on Lance’s ZDF program.
