DAccording to US President Joe Biden, America’s first Abrams tanks will arrive in Ukraine next week. “Next week, the first American Abrams tanks will be delivered to Ukraine,” Biden told reporters during a visit to the White House by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday. The US promised to deliver the Abrams in January.
Biden also announced that he had approved a new arms package for Ukraine, worth about $325 million (about 304 million euros), according to the Pentagon. The package includes anti-aircraft missiles, ammunition for Himars rocket launchers and artillery shells.
However, Washington will not currently supply ATACMS missiles with the required range of 300 kilometers. The US has shown itself to be very cautious in this regard – just like Germany when it came to the Taurus cruise missiles.
Biden vowed on Thursday that Congress had no choice but to vote for continued aid, with the U.S. Congress seeking to approve more military aid to Ukraine. “I trust the wisdom of the US Congress. There is no alternative,” the US president responded to a journalist’s question.
