The Pittsburgh Steelers make an emergency landing in Kansas City

The plane carrying the Pittsburgh Steelers back from Las Vegas after Sunday night’s game made an emergency landing in Kansas City, Missouri, on Monday morning. The team has now boarded an alternate plane to continue their journey back to Pittsburgh. Action News 4 in Pittsburgh has learned that the emergency landing was due to an oil pressure light that came on. Shortly after 6 a.m., Steelers spokesman Bert Lawton posted the following message on X: “Our team charter plane was unexpectedly diverted to Kansas City early this morning on our way back to Pittsburgh after our game in Las Vegas. Everyone Safely on board, we are making plans to return to Pittsburgh later today at 3:55 a.m. local time. The Kansas City Department of Aviation said 182 passengers and crew were on board and that everyone will remain on board until a replacement arrives. The new return flight to Pittsburgh departed from Kansas City at approximately 10:40 a.m. local time.

Action News 4 in Pittsburgh has learned the emergency landing was caused by an oil pressure light. No injuries were reported.

Shortly after 6 a.m., Steelers spokesman Bert Lawton posted the following message on X:

“Our team charter plane was unexpectedly diverted to Kansas City early this morning on our way back to Pittsburgh after our game in Las Vegas. Everyone on board is safe, and we are making plans to return to Pittsburgh later today.”

WTAE’s sister station KMBC said they were aware of a flight from Las Vegas to Pittsburgh that made an “uneventful” emergency landing in Kansas City at about 3:55 a.m. local time.

The Kansas City Department of Aviation said 182 passengers and crew were on board and that everyone would remain on board until a replacement arrived.

The new return flight to Pittsburgh departed from Kansas City at approximately 10:40 a.m. local time.
