The Philadelphia Phillies had a 2-0 lead in the NLCS that disappeared when the Arizona Diamondbacks won two straight games. After trailing by three runs on Friday, Arizona ended its drive in the eighth inning with a single from Gabriel Moreno that helped the D-backs to a 6-5 victory.
On Saturday in Game 5, the Phillies had right-hander Zach Wheeler back on the mound against D-back Zach Gallen. That was also the pitching game for the first game in Philadelphia, which the Phillies won 5-3.
The Phillies scored first in game five, hitting two runs on three singles against Gallen.
During the scoring, Bryce Harper had a scary collision with Gabriel Moreno, who appeared shaken but stayed in the game.
From there, both pitchers cruised for a while, not giving up much until Kyle Schwarber hit a no-doubt home run in the top of the sixth, making it 3-0 Phillies. It was Schwarber’s 19th career home run in the postseason, the most among left-handed hitters in MLB history.
Harper followed two batters later by hitting a solo shot of his own. It was his 11th home run with Philly in the postseason, tying a franchise record at just 28 games.
