The war in Ukraine is also an information war. Both Kiev and the Kremlin want to present their side as strong, celebrate victories and weaken the other side’s morale.

Not all details can always be verified.

Now Ukrainian commander Valery Markus is speaking out and expressing his view of things:

He seems angry about the Russians’ alleged false reports about losses in Ukraine — especially his own combat unit — and offers his view of the ongoing counter-offensive:

“Here is a clear example of them [Russlands] LIES: We already destroyed a regiment, we already had 350 dead, the first day they said there was no regiment… We had five dead.

“What they say has nothing to do with reality. Please do not share this information.”

Marcus is from the 47th Mechanized Brigade, which reportedly lost several Leopard 2 and Bradley infantry fighting vehicles to Russian attacks in southern Ukraine a few days ago.

He lists how heavy the losses of the Russians are:

Russian troops brought more than a hundred killed soldiers to the city of Dokmok, and the 47th Mechanized Brigade destroyed so many tanks that he could not even count them. His warriors will fight like lions. He threatens:

“Don’t you dare write a bad word about her. They are also fighting for our rights. Be careful: if you have nothing to say about this case, it is better to remain silent or write words of support.”

“Help or keep quiet.”

Information about the killed soldiers and destroyed combat equipment on the Russian and Ukrainian sides cannot be independently verified.
