The Mississippi State Fair launches its lineup of entertainment

The Grammy-nominated country music star will kick off the 164th Mississippi State Fair. Josh Turner will be performing Thursday, October 5 — the first day of the fair — as part of the “Long Black Train 20th Anniversary Tour.” His opening act will be Mississippi native and “The Voice” winner Todd Tilghman. Line Dance with Cupid, a special dance party featuring R&B singer Cupid, will take place Oct. 8 and will remain open to the public from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Mississippi Walker Wilson will open for country music on Oct. 12. On Friday, Oct. 13. Mississippi native comedian Rita Brent will host a stand-up comedy show, along with JJ Williamson, Kerwyn Claiborne, Marvin Hunter, and DJ Collide. Showcasing October 15, featuring opener from Mississippi Kayla Perry, the Mississippi State Fair will also host a talent contest to recruit singers for “American Idol.” Competition begins October 9 inside the Mississippi Coliseum. The final five finalists in the competition will have the chance to win a VIP Executive Producer audition. To register for the competition, click here.

The Mississippi State Fairgrounds announced its entertainment lineup Monday, which includes several nationally recognized artists. Josh Turner will be performing on Thursday, October 5 – the first day of the show – as part of the “Long Black Train 20”y Anniversary Tour”. His opening act will be Mississippi native and “The Voice” winner Todd Tilghman.

Line Dance with Cupid, a private dance party featuring R&B singer Cupid, will take place on October 8 and remain open to the public from 3pm-7pm.

Mississippian Walker Wilson will open for country music ERNEST on Oct. 12. On Friday, October 13, Mississippi comedian Rita Brent will host a stand-up comedy show, along with JJ Williamson, Kerwin Claiborne, Marvin Hunter, and DJ Koolaid.

The Commodores are scheduled to perform on October 14th. And Christian solo artist Jeremy Camp will close the show on Oct. 15, which features Mississippi native Kayla Perry.

The Mississippi State Fair will also host a talent contest to recruit singers for “American Idol”. Competition begins October 9 inside the Mississippi Coliseum.
