Ubisoft says it has listened to feedback and will remove chromatic aberration from the virtual 9th century Baghdad, and I’m sure this will be a real boon for many of us.
Whether you think Assassin’s Creed Mirage is a return to form or not, the open-world game has been good for Ubisoft. Players react well to the smaller size of Mirage, but the visual setting for chromatic aberration, which is forced on each player, didn’t fare well.
Chromatic aberration is a real-life side effect of some camera lenses, but Ubisoft has included it as a mandatory visual effect in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. It simulates how light rays pass through a camera lens, distorting visuals and edge colors in certain parts of the image.
This has been solidly implemented in the game, and having written about chromatic aberration in Assassin’s Creed Mirage that Ubisoft looked into, I’m now incredibly happy to say it’s been removed.
That’s according to AC Community Team member “Waldo” on the official Assassin’s Creed Discord, who says that Ubisoft is “working to process your feedback through in-game Chromatic Aberration.”
“With the next update arriving around the end of the month, chromatic aberration will be deactivated by default on all platforms and you will have the option to activate/deactivate this feature in a dedicated menu.”
Good news, folks. So, if you like the feature, you can turn it back on, but soon it will be taken out of the game by default for everyone, which is what many of us have been asking for since the game came out.
