Australian police are investigating a photographer's claim that he was assaulted by Taylor Swift's father.

Ben McDonald, 51, accused Scott Swift, 71, of punching him in the face on a Sydney dock. He did not need medical assistance.

The confrontation took place on Tuesday after Mr. Swift and the pop star disembarked from a yacht.

Local media reported that a spokesman for the singer did not address the assault allegation but said that two people had behaved aggressively towards them.

A video clip published by Australian media shows the singer, hiding under an umbrella, walking with her father and security guards along the Neutral Bay Wharf area around 02:30 local time (15:30 GMT on Monday).

Cameras flash to two voices – said to be a photographer and a guard – accusing each other of touching umbrellas. It is unclear whether the footage depicts the alleged incident.

MacDonald told the BBC that the singer had already gotten into the car when Swift “attacked” and attacked him.

“I have been doing this for 23 years and I have never been in a situation where anyone hit me,” he said, adding that he did not cause the accident.

The singer's representative said: “Two people were aggressively advancing on Taylor, grabbing her security personnel, and threatening to throw one of the employees into the water.”

Swift had just performed the final Australian concert of her famous Eras tour.

“The young man reported the incident and officers from the North Shore Police Area Command are now conducting investigations,” New South Wales Police said in a statement.
