Another week and another crushing loss for the Las Vegas Raiders. This time, the Raiders were able to hold on for a one-possession loss in Week 7 vs Los Angeles RamsAs the majority of Las Vegas players did not play badly.

However, the team was hampered by poor midfield play with Gardner Minshew stepping in for the injured Aidan O’Connell and previous headlines of this week’s winners and losers.

Loser: Gardner Minshew

While it’s hard to pin the loss down to one player, it’s also hard to ignore the fact that all four of Minshew’s turnovers had a significant impact on the scoreboard. His first two interceptions set up the Rams with short fields and led to touchdowns, and his fumble was returned for a score. Therefore, all 20 of Los Angeles’ points can be tied to the Las Vegas quarterback.

To make matters worse, Minshew ended the game with another option to close the door on the silver and black. Also, his positive plays were few and far between Focus on professional football He credited him with no “big throws” and only nine catches on 34 pass attempts, let alone touchdowns.

Unfortunately, O’Connell will be out for four to six weeks due to a fractured thumb. Presumably, this means Minshew will be the team’s starter moving forward, but he’s been so bad — and he’s been bad all year — that the coaching staff should at least consider giving the job to undrafted free agent and current practice squad quarterback Carter Bradley.

Winner: Trevon Moehrig

Moehrig had an impressive outing on Sunday, especially against the run. He was flying and making plays to rank second on the team with six total tackles, three of which he made PFF They are drawn as defensive stops against the run. The latter is tied for fifth among safeties for the week (pre-Monday Night Football) as this was a bounce-back performance that Moehrig desperately needed since he was struggling to start the year.

Loser: John Jenkins

Once again, defense was far from Las Vegas’ biggest problem in Los Angeles, but Jenkins was a non-factor in the contest without registering a tackle or even a pressure. And on top of that it got ugly 28.8 run defense grade Which is supposed to be his calling card. It’s been a very disappointing campaign for the 35-year-old, and it may be time to see what the younger defensive tackles can do as the team begins to focus on the future.

Winner: Jordan Meredith

In back-to-back weeks filling in for the injured Dylan Parham, Meredith played extremely well. This time he started and ended up as the Raiders’ top-tier offensive lineman (PFF) (85.1), barely beating Brock Bowers by 0.1 points. This mark currently leads all guards for the week, and Meredith has yet to allow 77 pressure opportunities. That could earn him some playing time even as Parham recovers.

Winner: DJ Glaze

Las Vegas had arguably its best performance of the season as the offense was able to move the ball consistently on the ground with 29 carries for 122 yards (4.2 yds). Glaze’s play was a big reason for that as he got elite 90.1 degree PFF run blocking. Heading into MNF, this is the highest mark by an offensive tackle in Week 7 by nearly 10 points.

The third-round pick also gave up just two pressures on the afternoon and started the game over Thayer Munford Jr., who was healthy and fit on Sunday. Glaze is certainly trending in the right direction and will likely remain in the starting lineup moving forward as he has outperformed Munford so far this season.

Winner: Nate Hobbs

Hobbs landed on the losers’ list last week, but had a solid performance against the Rams. What may be the most important stat from his outing is that he ended a streak of four consecutive games with a missed tackle.

Furthermore, Hobbs only gained 12 receiving yards and had four defensive stops while picking up his first interception of the year. This helped him achieve a season high 83.4 PFF coverage grade Which currently ranks ninth among all cornerbacks for the week.
