Punitive measures against Russia: US bans Putin confidants

US imposes new economic sanctions on Russians alleged to be girlfriends of President Putin. Alina Kabaeva’s entry permit has been suspended. Other Putin confidants were also admitted.

Following Britain and the European Union, the United States has imposed sanctions on an alleged associate of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
