Not only “Novocherkask”? Ukraine sinks another Russian ship near Crimea

During the attack on the Russian landing ship “Novocherkask”, a training ship was also sunk – satellite images are said to show this.

Feodosiya – A drone from Ukraine attacked the Russian warship Novocherkassk in the Crimean port city of Feodosiya on Tuesday night. In Telegram, Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk even talked about the sinking of the landing craft. The Kremlin confirmed the attack, but said only that it had caused damage. This would not be the first ship that Ukraine has sunk in the war in Ukraine.

Drone attack: Satellite images reportedly show another damaged ship

In addition to the damage caused by the large landing craft, another was reportedly damaged – and partially sunk. According to the US-funded broadcaster, it is an old training vessel UTS-150 Radio Liberty In Russia. The satellite images back up what a representative of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Natalia Humenyuk, reported about the sunken training ship after the attack.

According to the report, satellite images taken by Maxar Technologies show a partially submerged small ship not far from the apparent wreckage of the Novocherkassk. The images were taken at 11:25 am local time on Tuesday (December 26).

Reaction to the attack: Russia reportedly withdrew more ships from the port

Russia reportedly responded to the drone strike with subsequent actions: two Russian ships reportedly quickly pulled out of the harbor bay. It was reported that the vessels could not be identified due to poor visibility Radio Liberty. It could have been a warship and a military boat – judging by its size.

Moscow confirmed the attack on the Novocherkassk, but had no information on the extent of damage to the ship. The Kremlin has yet to comment on reports of a partially sunken training vessel. According to officials, one person died and two others were injured.

The complete sinking of “Novoserkask” would be a further humiliation for Moscow – the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, “Moskva”, was destroyed in 2022. (hk)
