Happy family: Just before their 50th birthday celebrations, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit are once again stepping up their family vacation. Together with their children Ingrid Alexandra and Sverre Magnus, the two are currently cruising the Norwegian coast on the royal yacht “Norge”.
Crown Prince Haakon and Mette-Marit: Vacation with the Royals
The Royal Family posted a series of summer photos on Instagram. “The Crown Prince Family wishes you a nice summer,” read the caption of family photos showing the foursome on a beach vacation in Chor-Varanger Municipality.
The Crown Prince’s family always spends their summers at home, preferably at sea or on the island of Twerksøya in Kristiansand. Haakon and Mette-Marit rent the “Villa Vogts” there almost every year, which is close to the sea. Usually the traditional summer shooting is also called here.

In this year’s photos, the Norwegian royals pose casually in casual summer clothes – color-coordinated in shades of white and blue. If you peruse the comments section, you’ll notice that one family member in particular catches the eye of royal fans.
A barely recognizable Sverre Magnus
“Sverre Magnus has become a big boy,” writes one follower under the new family photos. “Sverre Magnus is a very handsome young man,” read another comment. Many also see the 17-year-old prince becoming more and more like his grandfather, King Harald.
Sverre Magnus is now almost on par with his father Haakon at 1.90 meters tall. Already on Norway’s national day in May 2022, the prince surprised everyone with his height.
But that’s not all that stands out: his glasses are gone, his hair is casually pulled back from his face – the young royal is slowly leaving the teenage years behind. After the holidays, Sverre Magnus begins his last year at school.

The Norwegian summer will be a big celebration for the Crown Prince Family this year. Because Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit are both celebrating their 50th birthdays.

Haakon of Norway celebrates his birthday on July 20th, followed by his wife Mette-Marit on August 19th. A statement from the royal family has already revealed how the double anniversary will be celebrated.
A birthday party billed as a “backyard party at the castle” is planned for August. “Guests from all over the country” are invited.
