NCAA Women's Tournament live updates, scores, highlights: South Carolina vs. Oregon State Elite Eight tip off

There are only eight teams left vying to snag the nets in Cleveland next week as the women's NCAA Tournament comes to a close. We'll know which half of the Final Four field is after Sunday's action, which features No. 1 seeds South Carolina and Texas taking on No. 3 seeds Oregon State and NC State, respectively.

The Gamecocks led by 22 over Indiana in the Sweet 16 but nearly blew the lead, narrowly escaping to improve their perfect record to 35-0. So, while Dawn Staley's team may often seem unstoppable — witness the Gamecocks' 88-41 win over North Carolina in the Round of 32 — they are not an unbeatable team. This is all part of the reason Staley feels “uncomfortably comfortable” with her team.

Oregon State has passed Eastern Washington, Nebraska and Notre Dame in this tournament off the strength of its front court. Regan Pears in particular was excellent I helped shut down Hanna Hidalgo While he scored 18 points and 13 rebounds against the Irish fighter.

Texas will look to bring rookie star Madison Booker back for an Elite Eight matchup. Booker had single-digit scoring games in two of her first three NCAA Tournament appearances after going the entire calendar year without one. With Booker scoring just six points in the Longhorns' Sweet 16 win over Gonzaga, Aaliyah Moore took over with 16 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

While Booker was relatively quiet, NC State's Isaiah James enjoyed making stars in this tournament. James, who averages 16.4 points per game, has scored 22 and 29 points in her last two starts, leading the Wolfpack to a win over Stanford in the Sweet 16.
