Volos – After heatwaves, drought and forest fires – Greece is experiencing its heaviest rainfall ever. Storm “Daniel” hits central Greece with full force. National Weather Service meteo.gr Record rainfall has been recorded.

Zagora in Mount Pelion (Thessaly) recorded 700 liters of rain per square meter till 8:45 pm on Tuesday (September 6). The effects of a severe storm in Greece are devastating. There is a state of emergency in some areas. Power and water supplies have collapsed in the port city of Volos. People have to be rescued by inflatable boats. Villages are being evacuated. On the island of Skiathos, British holidaymakers had to spend the night at the airport. The storms did not end until Thursday (September 7). Then the weather conditions should improve.

Heavy rain fell on Wednesday night in Istanbul, Turkey. Two people died in the flood. Many are injured. (ml)
