Microsoft is reintroducing its tablet-friendly taskbar in the latest preview of Windows 11. The taskbar was First introduced in February Along with other new features included for final run in Windows 11, but later pulled for further internal development. Microsoft said in a blog post The taskbar is part of an update rolling out to Windows Insiders in the developer channel and is only available for tablets like 2-in-1s, not laptops or desktops.
The taskbar itself is designed to be hidden when the tablet user is not using it, allowing for more required screen space. When it breaks, it displays “critical” things on it like time and battery percentage. When expanded, it reveals various apps, widgets, and a start button, and seems to be more touch-friendly when in use. The taskbar is designed to return to optimal position when detached or when the keyboard is folded back on the 2-in-1.

Microsoft is also rolling out other features that work on devices other than 2-in-1 in its latest update, specifically in the system tray. The latest update brings icons and animated illustrations to its Settings app by adding them to the sidebar when you hover over the options in the list. These updates also include some bug fixes for settings, tools, task manager, and framework.
