LG has announced a smaller variant of the LG V20 in the form of the LG Q8. The newly introduced handset retains the same design aesthetics as the V20, though there are three primary differences between the two handsets. The LG Q8 comes with a different screen size, battery capacity, alongside a different camera setup.
In terms of specs, the LG Q8 features a 5.2-inch QHD IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4, featuring a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. The handset also features a secondary display on top that shows notifications.
Under the hood, the handset gets powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor bundled with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box layered with LG’s custom UI on top.
As far as cameras go, the smartphone features a dual lens primary camera setup with 13MP + 8MP lenses. On the front, the device comes with a 5MP selfie shooter which is also capable of Full HD video chats. In terms of battery, juicing up the smartphone is a 3000mAh battery. However, the LG V20 gets a removable battery while the new LG Q8 does not.
All in all, the latest LG Q8 appears to fix the minor flaws found on the LG V20. For instance, many found the LG V20 to be quite bulky. Also, it lacked water-proofing capabilities. However, the LG Q8 appears to have fixed on those flaws. The only thing missing in the smartphone is the removable battery found on the LG V20.
As far as pricing goes, LG is yet to officially reveal the price as well as the availability of the LG Q8. As information about the handset was spotted on LG’s official Italian website, which did not reveal the price or the availability of the handset, but did reveal its specs.
