Putin visits Russian forces in Ukraine’s Kherson region
Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin visits his troops in Ukraine. The President’s office said the Russian president visited the headquarters in Kherson and Luhansk regions. The city of Kherson had already recaptured Ukraine.
DAccording to official reports, Russian President Vladimir Putin has visited the military headquarters in the occupied territories of Cherson and Luhansk regions of Ukraine. In Cherson, Putin attended a command meeting, the presidential office in Moscow said.
Airborne troops and the military group “Dnieper” and other high-ranking officials briefed Putin on the situation in the southern Ukrainian regions of Kherson and Zaporizhia, annexed by Russia.
Putin also visited the headquarters of the National Guard in Luhansk, an eastern Ukrainian region annexed by Russia last year. The Kremlin did not say when the troop arrival took place
In addition to the announcement, the Kremlin released a video Tuesday morning showing Putin visiting a Russian military base in the southern Ukrainian region of Kherson. There he had senior army officers show him situation reports.
The Kremlin leader was then flown by helicopter to a base in the Luhansk region. The Kremlin’s views have not been independently verified. This is Putin’s second visit to the Russian-controlled part of Ukraine.
In September, Russia annexed the Ukrainian regions of Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia and Kherson along its border. This link is not recognized internationally. In addition, some parts of the regions are under the military control of Ukraine. After a Ukrainian counteroffensive, Russian troops withdrew from the regional capital Kherson across the Dnipro River in November.
