Deshaun Watson He’s officially back on the Browns’ active roster and is expected to start against the Texans this week in what will be his first regular season action since the end of the 2020 season.

Watson sat out all of last year while with the Texans and was suspended for the first 11 games this year under a personal conduct policy after being accused of sexual misconduct by more than 20 women. He’s been training with Brown for the past two weeks but will get his first extended first-team action since the summer this week and will have to scrape the rust quickly as a result.

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday he doesn’t know exactly how the extended layoff will affect Watson’s return to action, but said he feels confident Watson is ready for the task at hand.

“I have faith in Deshaun based on his preparations, and really, the focus is just on him doing his job,” Stefanski said, via Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot. “I mean, we still talk about team efforts, we still talk about offense and defense and special teams. So this is never going to be about one person. But as far as Deshaun is concerned, I believe in his setup, and I think he worked really hard on a bunch of things for Be ready to go. “

Watson’s reinstatement would draw a lot of attention against any opponent, but it’s an even bigger deal with Texas as opposition this week. Stefanski said the Browns will have to “place the blind” on anything other than willingness to play and we’ll see how well that works out on Sunday.
