WASHINGTON – The Israeli army announced on Monday that an Israeli soldier who was kidnapped on October 7 had been rescued from the hands of Hamas during a night Israeli ground operation in the Gaza Strip.
Soldier. The Israeli army said in a statement that Uri Magidish is now at home with her family. The medical examination showed that Majidish was in good condition.
“Last night, our forces freed soldier Uri Megidish from Hamas captivity,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at a cabinet meeting on Monday.
Netanyahu added: “To the terrorists of Hamas and ISIS, I say – you are monsters. We will continue to pursue you. We will continue to pursue you. We will beat you until you fall under our feet.”
Majidish is the fifth hostage to return to Israel out of more than 200 hostages captured by Hamas and brought to Gaza during the October 7 attack. Hamas released four hostages before rescuing Majidish.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said the night operation to secure Megidesh shows that Israel is capable of rescuing more hostages held by Hamas.
“This is further evidence of our ability to reach the hostages, the importance of the ground operation, and above all our commitment to each and every one of the hostages,” Gallant said. According to The Times of Israel.
Meanwhile, another missing person in Israel has been confirmed dead: 23-year-old Shani Luke, an Israeli-German citizen, who was among the attendees of a music festival attacked by Hamas terrorists. A video of Luke dancing at the festival before the attack received widespread attention.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry said Luke was kidnapped from the festival before being “tortured and paraded around Gaza by Hamas terrorists” and suffering “unimaginable horrors.”
Israeli President Isaac Herzog said Luke’s skull was found in Gaza.
“These sadistic, barbaric animals were beheaded while they were attacking, torturing and killing Israelis,” Herzog said. “It is a great tragedy and I send so many condolences to her bereaved family. She was a lovely young woman of 23 who went to a music festival.”
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz confirmed Luke’s death in a statement.
“The news of Shani Luke’s death is horrific. Like so many others, she was brutally murdered,” Schultz said. “This shows the complete brutality behind the Hamas attack – which must be held accountable. This is terrorism, and Israel has the right to defend itself.”
