Ikea's new gaming furniture looks like furniture, not an energy drink

Ikea is introducing a new line of gaming furniture that subverts the usual dark, sexy “gamer” aesthetic for designs that are more likely to blend into your existing home decor.

Sitting is the main focus. There's an armchair that folds into a relaxing position, a rocking-style chair designed to sway with your body's movement, and an inflatable donut-shaped chair with a matching footstool.

The Brännboll range also includes a 'gaming station' that folds away to form something like a wardrobe, with a fold-out table top, built-in computer tower storage and cable management. There is also a storage box that can be used as a side table, display shelves and some textile accessories such as a mouse pad, rug and blanket.

It's a little hard to pin down what qualifies any of this as “gaming” furniture, but I guess that's kind of the point — anything designed to accommodate long sitting sessions is fine for gaming, and not everyone wants to have a section of their home that looks like it's been sponsored by a company. Energy Drinks. IKEA says the Brännboll collection is inspired by street sports and leisure, with a mix of neutrals and bright colors that blend effortlessly into modern homes.

It moves with you.

While most of the press photos published by IKEA were of children, Daily confirmed this the edge The range is age-inclusive and suitable for adults. No pricing is available yet, but we should learn more about the Brännboll collection before it launches in September.
