Henry Winkler celebrated his 78th birthday with a cake marking the famous “jump the shark” moment from a 1977 episode of Happy Days.

The actor, who played Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli on the show, literally coined the term “shark jumping” when his character attempted to jump over a tiger shark while jet skiing.

The Scream star appeared on The View on Monday, and was presented with a cake to mark the legendary moment, with The Fonz iced in his signature leather jacket and swim trunks atop a blue sponge topped with a shark fin.

“First of all, my birthday cake is that I got to sit at this table,” Winkler said. “That’s number one and that’s the truth. You’re a very strong woman with a point of view and that’s amazing.”

“No. 2, I’m the only actor in the world who has jumped the shark twice — once on Happy Days, and once on Arrested Development.”

The star appeared on the show to promote his new memoir, Being Henry: The Fonz…And Beyond which will be released on October 31.

Henry first appeared before audiences when he had a minor role on the 1970s hit show Happy Days as local tough Fonzie.

The character turned out to be hugely popular, serving as the lead in the series, which ran for 10 years.

He has appeared in the Adam Sandler comedies The Waterboy and Little Nicky. The versatile star has also provided voice work for several animated shows, including Clifford’s Puppy Days and Sit Down, Shut Up.

In the 2000s, Henry appeared in front of the camera, captivating audiences in comedies such as Parks and Recreation, Royal Pains, Arrested Development, and Barry.

The author and actor was able to participate as music teacher Mr. Rock in the TV series Hank Zipzer based on his famous books.

Reflecting on the lessons he’s learned throughout his life, he told People magazine: “I’ve spent most of my adult life feeling afraid, looking on the outside like I’ve had my time together, and mostly anxious.”

“The biggest lesson, I really think now is that in 2023 looking back, not only do you have to be stubborn, not only do you have to be grateful, but you also have to be resilient.”
