Robyn Hayward, the player’s wife, chose to respond by posting a screenshot of the Hornets’ official injury report with the bruise line and revealing what she claimed was the real story: Hayward fractured his left scalp, aka the shoulder blade, and the Hornets made him play through it.

She seemed extremely frustrated with the way the team treated her husband, saying that the team failed to protect not only Gordon, but the other players as well.

He actually has a broken shoulder…they made him play in the last game…that’s why he couldn’t move his arm in the last game…..everyone who knows Gordon knows he has one goal. And that’s to win and play the right way, he’s the most honest player/person you’ll find. If he’s not going to play it’s because of something more than a bruise….

Hayward didn’t stop there.

Just to clarify – because the team doesn’t say. It’s a broken shoulder. It’s a broken bone. I’m over them and I don’t protect the players. I was just talking to the mom of a young gamer and she was saying the same thing…

About an hour later, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that Hayward would be sidelined indefinitely with a fractured left shoulder.

No matter the circumstances, a broken shoulder is a brutal turn of events for the player familiar with the brutal turn of events.
